What are the options and costs?
Does anyone know?

I have looked at Thailand post-they have a web site with prices (it costs alot)

http://www.thailandpost.com/newweb/index_en.asp

DHL is also an expensive route

Fed Ex ?  (never inquired pricing)

Yusen      ( you need to have a registered business and make an account)
it might be worth the effort and cost.

DHL and FEDEX are here:

www.dhl.co.th
www.fedex.com/th/
Try also TNT, they have an office near Phailin square and a website (make a search...it's probably www.tnt.com !!)

Thai post site : http://www.thailandpost.com/search_ems_en.asp

It depends on what do you want to ship, how fast, the size, etc. Thai Post is quite good by boat but it takes 2 months. I never had problems to ship in Canada. A friend of mine can't use it for South Africa because it never arrives. (Stolen in South Africa)...I heard the same stories in Netherlands, when an envelop looks like it has some money into it. (Stolen in Thailand)

Now, if you ship by EMS (Thai post, plane) it's expensive and the service is not like DHL ou FEDEX.
If you export, FEDEX includes custom broker fees, which is quite good.
If you want to send a container, you must use other companies.

Seb, can you register a business from out of the country? Do you do that in your lawyer services?

Jeff, I am not sure about what you want. You are talking about a foreign company... Would you like to have a branch of it in Thailand? Or make a joint venture with a Thai company? Or, it could be easier to register a new Thai company? Or a partnership...

Foreign companies have limitations in Thailand and Thai companies can't be owned by foreigners. (americans can own business under the Amity treaty). Many sectors are restricted according to the Foreign Business Act and other laws. The FBA is under review right now and it's making a lot of problems with foreign investors... (see our legal news sections, january and february 2007).

Your question was if we do this stuff? Answer: Yes.

We are a little bit out of the topic!!!! Send me an email at koratlawyers@gmail.comĀ  and explain me what you would like to do, where is your business from, who will work in it (foreigners? Thai?), etc. We have meetings every week and I will answer you quickly.

Your question was if we do this stuff? Answer: Yes. Actually, it's probably the easiest stuff for us. It doesn't involve international laws and we have a business partner who was the president of the Nakhorn Ratchasima Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Thavison. He speaks English and knows a lot about business...

More off topic - sorry!

Sebastien can a Delaware registered LLC own a 100% Thai company?
