An interesting article.

I have already discussed with my wife my wishes should I suffer a terminal disease.

I have told her that, other than for pain relief, I want to receive no medication that would artificially extend my life.

She knows that I want to die at home with my loved ones around me.

I watched my step brother kept alive by artificial means far too long because his wife, rightly or wrongly, followed her desire for him to live rather than his own desire to die in his own home with dignity.

I can only hope that my wife follows my instructions.

I do have my notarized living will.
Was done by Isaan Lawyers, for correct lay out and text.
One original copy is in my safe ,known to my relatives and partner and one is in my file at the hospital (after deleberation with my regular MD )

From to-day's Nation

National Health Commission approves draft directive to allow patients to choose to die

The National Health Commission Friday approve the Public Health Ministry's draft directive which would allow terminal patients to refuse treatment that would simply prolong their life.

Public Health Minister Witthaya Kaewparadai said the commission approved the draft directive after much debate.

The directive will regulate how to write a letter to state the intention of a terminal patient to refuse medical treatment.

The draft directive has yet to be approved by the Cabinet before it will be announced in the Royal Gazette and take effect.

There is also another one from Tilleke Gibbins and a small available draft here:

We will try to find the regulation and translate it in English, if we can.
