^ it is now all about money.

imho they do not really care.

they pretend to care and say all the right stuff but you gaotta read between the lines here.

yes to me it is still the best hospital i can find in korat.

it hurts me to say it but it is true.

i will continue to use them but it is a matter of nothing better at this point in time.

simple as that.

company making money.

I use the Army Hospital, Fort Surranaree Hospital!!! I have a regular doctor I see for 150 baht per visit and my prescriptions are at least 50% off Bangkok Hospital!!! The only problem using the Army Hospital is they speak very little English until you get to the doctor who speak pretty good English, so take a Thai Speaker with you for the first couple of visits!!! They also have an emergency room, open 24/7!!! If you have a more serious illness, the University Hospital in Khon Kaen is highly recommended, especially for heart and cancer diseases!!!

I have luckily only needed medical care in Thailand once so far and received good service at Bangkok Hospital. I saw two doctors, and was prescribed two medications and all done for about US $20. Quite a deal. Both doctors spoke English. However, I understand that you can find incompetence anywhere as I have had several run ins in the US which is why a second opinion and a third and fourth may be necessary. As far as the this poor gent's biopsy, this sounds like a little case of malpractice. I had a biopsy done in the US and there was little or no blood. No cutting tools were used. My dermatologists' assistant used what I can only describe as a tool used for core samples. Small hole and very little bleeding.

There are obviously different personal experiences and opinions about Bangkok Hospital.

I stand behind comments I've made here previously and wouldn't use those quacks for anything more than a couple of stitches.

tomo, my wife and I have used Bangkok Hospital in the past but usually only for small things and the care has been mediocre at best. Personally, I would avoid them at all costs if there's any serious health issues.

To give you an example, I had multiple skull fractures and was in a coma last year.  When the accident happened, they took me to the Army hospital and then Bangkok Hospital here in Korat.  Neither of them would even admit me, saying the extent of my injuries was too severe and there was nothing they could do.  Huh

My wife went NUTS and demanded they take to me to Bangkok immediately, by helicopter if necessary.  I thank God every day for her. If not for her, I'd be dead . . . literally.

I spent almost a month in Samitivej Hospital and the doctors, nurses, facilities . . . everything were absolutely impeccable . . . and the total bill was only about U.S. $25,000-30,000 of which my insurance picked up 75%.  Had that happened in America it would have easily cost 10x that amount.

To be perfectly honest, I would go to either Samitivej or Bumrungrad in Bangkok.  Yes, the prices are a little higher, (but not much) and the services/facilities are world class.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

I think you should criticize their admittance policy, rather than call all the doctors quacks.(mho)
Although I fully agree with the actions your wife took and I would do the same.
May be their emergency actions would have make things worse.

If anything serious happens to me I will go to Samitivej or Bumrungrad in Bangkok without a doubt.

I found a great dentist at the Bangkok Hospital in Korat for kid's, but that is the only thing good I can say about that hospital at this time.

Was at Bumrungrad today and the doc there could have easily sent me for some tests or even surgery, but he prescribed some pills and asked me to see how I get on. If the problem still remains I have to go back for some tests and further evaluation before they decide if surgery is needed. Yes, it was more expensive than if I'd gone to a hospital in Korat, but in the long run could be cheaper if I don't need surgery. Plus the wife was happy as she got a day out shopping in BKK. On second thoughts, perhaps it isn't cheaper going to a hospital in Bangkok.

If I have anything to say about it, I would not have any surgery in Korat. Phyathai hospital in sriracha is a very good hospital. Good doctors, many trained in the States, and reasonable prices. The Bangkok group of hospitals are money making machines.

About the quality/price I have no opinion ,as I never received any treatment  Grin.
I depend completely on info like on this board and "hear/say"

I don't think comparing prices will be very positive for the Bangkok hospital.

I had a small accident and needed stitches and it cost me around 2000 THB at Bangkok hospital. A while back I needed stitches again (I know, I know.. I am clumsy) and went to St. Mary's and I paid 500 THB.

Obviously there are differences between the two hospitals but there are of course also differences between Bumrungrad and Bangkok hospital. I have been to both and the Bumrungrad is in a much higher category. It's highly regarded oncology department for example attracts patients from around the world.

Been in the St Marys as well as the Bangkok for the same treatment (lab control) with the same Doctor.(he was from 10-12 at St Marys and from 13 till 16 at Bangkok on a Sunday)
Difference was 30 baht(being Bangkok more expensive). This was in 2008.
St Marys was crowded too much and the air co could not cope with it.

I think the dentists at St Mary's do a good job. The dentists I have found at Bangkok hospital here in Korat to say the least aren't very good. Personal preference I guess.

The dentist at the Bangkok hospital that is good works only on Kids.  She is gentle with them and makes them feel comfortable.

She has a way with children and they listen to her.  She was great with my daughter.

As far as the other dentists there I have no idea how they are.

I have a great dentist in Pattaya who I get all of my dental work from.
