A branch of Kasikorn Bank is opening opposite the 7/11 (the one next to the post office) on Chomsurang road. The premises was formally a wholesale alcohol shop which has now moved next door.

I thought 'Ask a Local & Shopping' was the board to ask about or inform people about useful amenities in Korat. I admit, more often than not, it is used by people wanting to locate a particular sevice or product. But, as in the case of the recent 'Tesco Lotus in Joho' thread, it is sometimes used to tell people about a new amenity. I just thought it might be of some use to someone. You have my sincerest apologies.

I am curious why some people think Kasikorn is best bank in Thailand .. I am using Siam and Bangkok banks and find customer service terrible at both and every time I walk by ANY bank it seems that there are always massive line ups ... not just at end of month when people get paid ... is Kasikorn better ?? which branches do you recommend ?

I've been to several branches of Kasikorn and the service is always good, not like Bankok Bank where theres always a queue no matter which branch or at what time.

If you live anywhere near Choho, the branch there is very good.

I concur with the above statements. I've used them for the past 3 years and service has always been good. Opened a savings account at Bangkok Bank for my toddler and no matter what time of month I go in, there is always a line. However, I have not used them for any additional services nor have I used any other banks so my experience is limited.

i used bangkok bank for years and it wasn't until i moved to pak chong and wanted to move my bkk bank account from bangkok to their pak chong branch that i ended up in the kasikorn as the bkk bank in pak chong would move my account for me without a non-imm "b" visa and kasikorn opened a new account no problem.

i'm really glad i made the change!

they are helpful, nice and generally less busy than the bkk bank and so far the service has been great!  they always seem prepared to make an effort to help and their offices all over the place seem to be like this - something i CANNOT say for the bkk bank.

I too have always been happy with Kasikorn, they were the only bank who would open an account for me some years ago and and when in Thailand the staff at the Mall branch seem like old friends. It is very easy to use their online banking from the UK and make payments via their SMS password service. My wifes favourite last month was renewing the Visa cash card so she can now have her face printed on it!  Cheesy

The Bangkok Bank next to the Chao Phraya Hotel (opposite ELC language school) is usually empty. But obviously that's quite a distance from you if you live in the Choho area.
