Just to let you know.......I went into to my cyber banking today and up pops this email...about system down must re-enter password...what ever you don't...I checked my personal email and had one from Kasikorn and opened it...here it is....the English version of course...

Dear K-Cyber Banking Customer,

Subject: Warning of Phishing e-mail targeting K-Cyber Banking Customers

We wish to inform you of the recent phishing activities that involve sending fraudulent e-mail to random users stating that your account has problems or the Bank?s security has been upgraded and requires you to take some actions by clicking the link embedded in the e-mail, which then directs you to the fraudulent K-Cyber Banking website that looks identical to the real one. The fraudulent URL (website address) or any other name that may resemble that Bank?s URL.

The Bank does not have a policy of sending you an e-mail that contains a link for you to click in order to access any system at the Bank or ask for any personal information. We wish to remind you once again that if you want to access K-Cyber Banking or any other systems at the Bank, you must use a shortcut (Favorite) that you created yourself or manually type in the URL.

If you have entered any information at the fraudulent website, please immediately contact K-Contact Center at +66 2888 8800 to change Password or disable your account.

Yours sincerely,
KASIKORNBANK PCL

I called them and they said it is spam and hackers are getting into your account.....so beware....

Just a warning.....

Hi Rawdonlad,

Thanks for your answer. I see that it would had been easy to give them my thai nr. as it was a 1 year Sim card that I had. And as you only use it for incomming msg. By using my E-banking from DK, it cost me 258 baht for each transaction I do, regardless of the amount sent.

Hi DK

We still have the account with Kasikorn registered at our house in Nong Sung but told them we live in England as well they were ok with that and I have never been charged to pay any bills etc over their online banking except the few baht when you pay via another Thai bank etc.

BB,
Thank you too for the answer. I'll try to contact Kasikorn BKK Silom Rd. branch and give them my Thai nr. as I just found out that it is valid till july 10 - 2010.

Hello,

I've been following this thread with interest. Thanks to the OP for starting it.

Kasikorn seems to have a good reputation as to customer service, being farang friendly and for their account access. Has anyone had any issues regarding transferring funds from a UK Bank, or Off-Shore Bank to their Kasikorn accounts?

I have read somewhere that many Thai Banks charge for ATM transactions/withdrawals if not made at the branch the account is with. Is this actually the case or just a fallacy.

Many thanks.

Dave.

my experience with Bangkok Bank is that ATM transactions in the same province are free but withdrawls from another province cost 30 baht each I think ... stupid nonsense rule since it is computerized anyway but all banks worldwide are  rip off artists so why should it be different here .... also ALL banks charge 150 baht for international withdrawls (except AEON - still free) .. I get charged $5 Cdn in my branch in Canada and then another equivalent to $5 here in LOS

I am seriously considering switching to Kasikorn .... I live in Pradok near Makro ... anyone have a branch near there to suggest or is the Mall an okay branch?

Dave

I use First Direct in the UK and if I transfer money I just phone them up and off it goes, if I do it one day it is in Kasikorn normally the next day and I check it is there online. I have done it many times all with no problem and it is quick. Kasikorn make no charge. When I lived in Thailand I also had an offshore account with Nationwide in the Isle of Man and transferred funds to Kasikorn with no problems.  Smiley

I have done many transfers from the USA to Bangkok Bank and it is always there the next day.  I submit the request on Monday night and it's in Bangkok Bank Tuesday afternoon.  Never had a problem.  Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.   Smiley

All banks in thailand are the same in that respect. When you use an ATM from another province, you are charged a commission.

But please confirm that if it was a "Normal transfer" and not the "Express option", which cost you more but arrives within 24h.

Kasikorn charge 10 baht commission for withdrawals from ATMs outside the province.

I have never heard of the Express Option and there is nothing like that on the form that I submit to my bank.  So, it must be a Normal transfer.  My bank said that any request that they get by 11 a.m. will be sent out before 3 p.m. the same day.  About 2 years ago when I opened my account at Bangkok bank,  I asked them about transfers and they said that any transfers that they receive in the morning will be processed the same day.  BTW, the time difference between my bank in the USA and here is 12 hours.
