Coming soon Mothers days  Embarrassed Embarrassed which is gonna last at least a week and the tv will be full of wailing and weeping  school kids and middle aged women crying over pictures of Knun Mair Cry Cry Cry  For heavens sake why this obsession with their mums. When my missus was working 6 days a week at a factory Khun Mair used to recieve most of her money. Cry
Question. why is that and what on earth do they do with the money Undecided eh. Most of them dont drink dont smoke and have few teeth to chew beef so what exactly do they do with the money.? And why oh why do Thai women feel compelled to treat their mothers as Saints. .go figure. Cry
One of my mates (silly sod) gives his missus 4.000 baht a bloody week and believe me most of that goes
to the Matrioch, head of family, she who must be revered, the dreaded Khun Mair. Its a mystery isnt it ??
Perhaps she saves it all up to be divided out by the rest of the very poor relatives. Im very cynical. Tongue My missus rings mum every day but her son at Uni about once a month Roll Eyes  You can criticise thai politics and revered institutions but beware of the mother in law jokes Grin Grin Pleased when its all over, Cry

She too will be celebrating August the Twelth as its the official beginning of Grouse season Wink today.
But if she tried shutting the pubs then God save our Queen would take on another quite different meaning Wink

my mother in law is nice and my father in law a good guy they have never asked us for anything and they are poor as well, we did not pay the standard fee when we got married as we did not have the money to do so, we give about 10-15000b a year to them but that is our choice and are happy to do so as it helps them, all thai earners send money to there familys every month (or week) as thais generally have an incredible family bond. also thais have a great respect for elders and are taught this from a young age, As for giving 4000b a week i think it is worked out on how rich you are and what you can afford to give, making good money is considered to be lucky in thailand and with this the ones with money are expected to share this "good fortune"  around with family members and most are happy to do this, karma is the word of the day here and is strongly cemented in the thais heads.

whatever the amount you share with your family, they share likewise, whether it be to buy whiskey for the father, son or neighbors, or whether it goes to buy rice and food for the local Wat.
Money comes and goes.Mai Pen Rai!  Easy to say, harder to live by.
I guess i am lucky too as my mother in law is truly a wonderful person,
Talk to your wife about the Kings sufficient economy plan, and have her read it to mom.

then bring your monthly payroll down to a reasonable level for all concerned.
