I'm looking to rent a very modest house 1-2 bedrooms for 2,000-4,000 baht per month. Preferably within a couple of km of the city centre (Klang, Yamo). Does anyone know of any houses or places or areas where I should look? Any help or suggestions welcome.

I don't know if Joho is too far for you but there are some pretty decent homes available for around your budget. Only the other week I saw a nice 2/3 bedroom with farang kitchen available in Homegarden Ville Joho for 3500 THB a month. You can get quickly into town from Joho and there are lots of English teachers living here.

Thanks for the tip. I would be happy enough to live in Joho and I know there are plenty of songtaews that go up that way, but it's probably too far from the town centre for the wife.
Thanks for your help.  Smiley

I am in Phuket for a few weeks so I can't be of any help at the moment.

There are houses for rent frequently in Home Garden in Joho and other estates nearby however you need to be quick. Whenever I see a for rent sign then its only up for a few days before its rented out unless the owner wants too much rent.

The best thing you can do next time you are in town is to drive up and down all the the sois in Home Garden and the other estates. Most of the guys I know who are renting a house in this part of Joho pay between 3500 THB to 6000 THB a month and normally this would be for a 3 bedroom house.

I know Eve from Isaan Properties has a couple of houses to rent, no idea of location or prices, but she should be able to help.

I know of a semi detached 2 or 3 bedroom two story house in the Sub siri area that rents out at around 4000. I can find details if that area is of interest. it doesn't have air con though. in a small soi off the main road about 3 minutes motorsi ride into the train station 5mins to the mall or Tesco Lotus.
