1) Anyone know of any romantic places that can cater for both afternoon and night time? Restaurants, scenic views etc... nice quiet place...

2) Anyone knows of interesting places to go to in Korat?

I've been to korat almost like 11-12 times but i'm like always going to the same places.. would like to try some different places...

Have you been to the Korat Fossil Museum?
Its a really interesting place to see and consists of three museums. Petrified Forest, Ancient Elephants and Dinasaur museum.
They also have an international tour guide who speaks perfect English if you really want to understand the exhibits.
It is quite near to the Korat Zoo so you can do both in a day and have a great time.

Do you mean in the city or in the whole province? Obviously, Khao Yai has some pretty scenic places.

Hey Vinnie correct me if I am wrong but I thought "Korat" was the city. I have never heard of the province being referred to as "Korat".

Pretty sure it can be used for both. Perhaps one for Orchid to clear up.  Wink

Wang Mat Cha (near Plookpanya) day time or evening. Great lake. Nice restaurant.
Baan Lan Look Mai (Behind tesco) evening time, nice place. Gardens.
Suan Tip. Same as baan lan look mai, behind Dusit Princess.
Baan Lan Tawan (if front of bung ta lua, have a walk after) day time or evening.
Saveone market. Always cool to walk around. Have dinner not far.

A little bit outside:

Suan Uncle Pee. (20km) day or evening, and you visit the otop shop. I like this place a lot.
Suan Muang Porn (20km). Beautiful place.   (http://www.suanmuangporn.com/) You HAVE to go.
Dan Kwian, a like the place with Kai Yang...and you visit the pottery shops.
Phimai, the ruins + museum.
The zoo + lagoon.
Khao Yai: I like one of the waterfall, the most famous, bring a picnic and see the monkeys!

Many places near the big reservoir, 40 km of Korat.
Wan Nam Khieo has many resorts.

Why not take her to Kanchanaburi? Koh Samed? Koh Chang? Casinos in Poipet?
There are all not very far. Or a weekend in Vientiane?

Royal Palm restaurant in North Joho is nice

There is a nice restaurant overlooking Lam da kong dam about 70 kms down Highway 2, south of CQ. forget the name but has a great garden centre attached and a terrace with great sunset veiws.

If you like lake side eating coming from big C turn right and hard right again at the pegasus hotel crossroads. drive down and look right, a good few romantic eateries. last one they bring your dinner to you by boat!

let us know where you've been so we don't send you to the same places.  Roll Eyes

I'm sure you're right right Derek, also I don't know a Royal Palm restaurant in North Choho, maybe Loz means the Palm Garden (used to be Sataporn), as I know he likes it there.

The one where Loz says that they bring your meal in a boat is Wang Ma Cha, the first one on Isaan Lawyers' list.

This one is SuanMuangPorn. I wrote 20km but it's more 50 or 70 like Loz mentionned.

I visited a very strange place that was on the road from Korat to Non Thai. ( left hand side heading away from Korat about half way to Non Thai, down a dirt track with not much of a sign....in Thai of course).

It was a few years ago so may not be still going , but it was a weird collection of statues and scenes of things like cows riding motorbikes over green people and people with huge t**ticles being speared by huge nasty frogs.
Kind of thing.
There were some very big Hindu gods in field around the back also which were interesting also.

I,m sure I was'nt drunk as I was driving and I had not "been" on anything either.

Someone must know it....is it still there?

Hello KW.....did you watch the Moto GP?

That's Wat Parakloy about 15kms from where you take road 205 to NonThai at Joho.

It is a famous temple much visited by schoolchildren. The statues and scenes depict a morality lesson for the kids. There are also some battle scenes telling the story of Yamo's military successes.

My 5 year old son loves it there but does skirt around a few of the, in his mind, scary parts.

I think it will be there forever Grin Cheesy Grin

Is it that same temple as the videos here?

Never been there but it sure looks strange!
If it's the same place, a google earth placemark would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Km 378/379 is what I noted in my agenda.
I also remember that you need a lot of coins (mostly 5 baht) to bring the figures to action. Grin

To the best of my knowledge those are not the places that soihok and derklev wrote about.
(I was there about 5 years ago)
